[Edit]Installation hints

Installing eComStation or OS/2 on Parallels Workstation for Linux need nearly the same hints as for Parallels Workstation for Mac.

How to install in a few steps:

  1. Before running eComStation installation make sure to disable Intel VT-x support (to be found in "Configuration Editor" -> Options -> Advanced)
  2. In installation phase I (just after the hardware recognition) switch the driver for ATAPI/IDE to IBM Standard
  3. The network adapter driver for the virtual NIC (RTL8029) can be found in the Parallels tools directory as a disk image VMTOOLS.FDD
  4. Connect that image in the moment the network adapter want to be installed

If you don't like to type in your eComStation registry key you can use one of the following ways:

  1. Create a regular floppy disk containing your eComStation registry key file on a regular personal computer with a build in disk drive
  2. Use a disk imaging tool which can create a file type .IMG or .IMA (e.g. EMT4PM on OS/2)
  3. Create your image and rename it to MYECSKEY.FDD
  4. Tranfer that file to your Mac in an appropriate way (USB-Stick, network ...)
  5. Connect that virtual disk drive in Parallels Workstation for Linux while install procedure quest for it
